Destination Beach Wedding 2010… Any Ideas?

by admin on February 11, 2010

I’m getting married in 2010 and since my fiance is from Nova Scotia and I am from BC, we would like to do a destination beach wedding anywhere from mexico and lower (or maybe Hawaii??). Needless to say, we are having trouble coming up with a place/venue/hotel. We would like it to be safe, clean and a spot where there is lots to do (ie. hiking, kayaking, horse back riding, etc). Any Ideas or personal experiences?

I got married in Hawaii at the Hilton Waikoloa Beach Resort. They don’t marry right on the beach but have many options on their grounds. It was beautiful and I would recommend to anyone!

Have you ever thought about Cancun? There is a beautiful resort that has wedding packages and honeymoon packages available.

don't use experiences because they're amusing or funny. if the assignment is about what you've learned, think of times in your life when you actually learned a lot. what you have right now is a weak fit, and it will make for a weak paper.

This was such a gorgeous video! We are planning a wedding at Dreams PV in May 2011 and I would love to know who did the videography so I can hire them! Did they make this promo as well or was this you guys? Just beautiful and exactly what I want in a videographer!

I’m dying to wear a statement necklace.. but my dress is super-airy and perfect for my beach wedding… and my mom thinks the one I like looks tacky- even with it’s $700 price tag. So, I may end up with a simple pearl necklace. Boring. I love your original pick.

The answer from I love my love is great, part of what I would have said. Now, are they spending the night??? Enough bathrooms/places to change into swimsuits. Plenty of umbrellas for redheads with fair skin or people taking medication that cannot be out in the sunlight. Food for diabetics, tubs of soft drinks and bottled water in ice. Also, ice cold watermelon—love it. Also, a regular hot dog/hamburger/chips/pickles/the works grill out. The bar b q could be the already made or cook out and grill chicken and chops with potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and cake. I would have a cake for each night, a small wedding cake for first night and a chocolate groom's cake for second night. Sounds great, hope it will not rain, need a backup plan if it does. Will the house be big enough to hold all of the family and friends if it rains??? And if beach, always check out weather for hurricane season. Sorry, but it happens, and a beach–where–re: the big oil spill???

Large jugs of lemonade and punch (like store bought tropical punch mixed with pineapple juice or sprite), Have wedding pictures on display or handy to look at for guests. Also, I like large jugs, containers filled with sliced limes, lemons and orange quarters in just chilled water, very natural and colorful. I love all the decorations which would be hard to do at a beach, but at a lake with trees, colored japanese lanterns and sprays of flowers, orchids, real or silk, floating down from lowest tree branches, can usue monafilament (fish) line to hang things with, balloons, crepe paper, anything for color, color and more color. Maybe a pinata' for children. Bacci ball on beach for olders and volleyball for youngers. If beach, have plenty of sunscreen, aloe and burn relief spray available. Extra towels for either. Idea, hang multi colored (stripes and polka dot beach towels) from trees to look like flags, Different, crazy??? Can always take down and use if needed. Tiki torches, of course, these are all the same old, same old, but hard to think of anything else. Can make walkways for nighttime with votives in sand in a brown paper bag or make with clean small catfood cans, one on bottom upside down, other on top, spray silver and a globe with a candle in, use kitty litter to put globe and candle in. Ribbon or rafia around. Hanging lanterns or hanging votive holders, etc. Lots of candle light or string up mini white lights, colored to me would be too much like Christmas. Have different seating/eating areas—-each decorated differently as some people will pair up to eat and talk and then switch around, depending on the size of the lake property. Have food items on long tables with colorful plastic tablecloths (party city) and plenty of flowers and candles (be sure candle holders have a thick bottom or on styrofoam with silk flowers around) so it will not melt tablecloths. A large pillar candle display, different heights (make out of styrofoam and called fern pins to hold together, look kind of square, get at walmart, hobby lobby or michaels or any craft store) cover with florist/green paper and attach silk greenery and flowers, add fruit also. Can always have a fruit table with watermelon basket and carved melons, etc.

My florist when decorating her windows, used hand held size beach umbrellas hanging upside down with flowers and greenery overflowing and a solid color sheer ribbon tied at about every 12 inches with just about a six or eight piece of another color ribbon knotted around hanging ribbon for contrast, along with flowers on the monafilament. Hang colored beach balls, round water floats, etc. ($store, very inexpensive) try to imagine or draw out, very colorful and different hanging from trees along with umbrellas. Also, have a couple of kiddie pools for smaller children with water toys. Water guns, unless they will go crazy with them and not spray adults who do not want to get wet and there will be those. Wind sicks, kites for flying or hanging. Fun at beach.

I would also stay in the same color theme, ie. traditional beach ball colors, red, blue, green and yellow. Or if you like flourscents, go with all those, know it is casual but I personally like to have a color theme, not mixing both, just looks better to me. Just ramblin', hope some of this helps. The idea of the tubs with canned sodas or the little fruit drinks for children, keeps from having cups all over the place and they can get their own when they want. Been there, done that. Also, a couple of extra large trash cans and trash bags.

I did watch this episode and I thought of you! I’m on vacation right now, and with vacation comes trashy tv on Oxygen. I’ve been watching the promos for this episode all week and finally caught the episode. I’m searching for wedding ideas, and specifically a theme, but I can’t say we are going to have a boxer/shepard/whatever-the-heck-our-dog-is themed wedding. I did however love the adoption aspect they tied in. Definitely check it out!
