Well, it's a pretty good beginning. It, of course, depends on what the rest of your story is going to be about. There are a couple of things that could be fixed.
1) There is a very drastic mood-swing, when her grandmother mentions the hair the last time, but before, you didn't show it bothering her. And unless you want to show her as a flighty, moody character it might be a good idea to show the build up of this.
2) You jump from subjects in your main character's mind too quickly. It's somewhat difficult to follow. Just put some more transition in between, and you'll be fine.
3) Your detail of the dress was beautiful, and I have it right here in my mind's eye, but what about the rest of it? The house, your characters, everything.
4) Be careful about long beginning lines, you need the line to hook a reader into it without seeming drawn out. When I first read that line, it didn't catch me. Try a traditional hook of some sort.
Other than that, this is a great beginning. I might warn against a perfect character, no offence, I see a threat of that in the beginning of this book. Make sure that your character is not shown as perfect and you give her depth. These are the pitfalls that many writers fall into.

that was AWESOME, kels!! I think the worst feeling EVER is when someone is disappointed in me… how AWFUL it would be if my husband(Andrew)'s smile would've dropped as I walked into my wedding ceremony because I looked tattered! and to apply that to our wedding with the Creator… wow. to see God's face fill with disappointment is horrible just to think about. No, it does not seem like previously owned gowns would be bad luck at all. I think it is more important with the love you share as husband and wife that is truly important. Plus, I mean, come on, don't you want to spend the real money on the honeymoon? Although, I will say, I would not rent a wedding dress just because it will probably will be a day you want to remember for the rest of your life, and that is one of the only pieces of clothing that is truly sentimental. So my advice: Previously owned, fine (as long as you launder it before hand!), Rented No, and this goes for the grooms tux too in my opinion, although frankly the groomsman you should rent.

All the vow renewals I have attended personally? They were brief ceremonies at the couple's regular place of worship, following a regular worship service.

Each bride had one attendant only. Each groom had one attendant only.
The men wore dark suits, not tuxes.
Each couple followed the vow renewal with either a luncheon or party in their own home.
You are already legally married . . . you can do the vow renewal wherever it is convenient for you. It does not have to be in the state where you wed.
