Wedding dress?

by admin on February 2, 2010

Does anyone have a suggestion of a website for wedding dresses that are not WHITE. My sister and I are planning a double wedding for ourselves. We are middle aged, it is our 2 nd marriage for both. We are unable to find decent dresses that are not white. We’ve looked at wedding gowns, bride maids dresses and mother of the bride outfits. Please advise

A lot of wedding dress companies now make off-white or ivory dresses. Try David’s Bridal or Alfred Angelo.

If you want a wedding dress that is not white, but still looks like a wedding dress take a look at Maggie Sottero’s website. I too did not want a white wedding dress, but still wanted it to look like a wedding dress. I’m wear her Rosetta gown in Midnight Lavender. I hope you find something you love.

Alexia has a wide variety of colors available for all of their dresses and they are quite affordable. We’ve ordered brides, bridesmaid AND mother of bride dresses all from their Bridesmaid selections.

Why don’t you visit http://www.bestweddingpros.com and get info from the seamstresses that are listed there. That site is both local and regional and many dress makers and seamstresses advertise their services there. Maybe you can have a dress custom made.

Hi and congratulations! How fun!

Personally I just LOVE the bridesmaid collection from Alfred Angelo. Click on “view all”…..there are soooo many and they come in all the colors shown on the right side. Click on the little color and the dress will change.

That’s what I would go with. Here is the link:

Good luck in your search!

Loved Erin's dress. It was perfect on her and she just glowed. What a handsome couple…I wish them all the best. Her flowers were great and loved her shoes. You know I love all the little details and they had it down, right down to Aaron's socks and tie. Carrie, you captured the love and pride in the black and white pic of the mother of the bride with tears in her eyes… that one got to me. Good times ;0)

I’m pretty sure this is how it plays out: JI wakes up, realizes stuff about his past (he’s adopted) and decides to free himself from his dad. He may or may not have some lingering health problems, causing Mary to decide to marry him. He insists he just wants her to be happy, which makes her even more determined to marry him. MG’s band buddies and new BFF SJ try to convince him to stop the wedding (how convenient the invitations already sent), but he is beyond caring. Then JI, at the last second (literally) decides to either send Mary off (in her wedding dress) because he loves her too much to let her do this, or lets/tricks MG (who suddenly also decides he can’t live without Mary) to take his place. Happy Ending, with zero resolution of any plot or character issues. This is my guess based on the writer’s style and the cheesy plot points that would be the extent of her creativity.

Nah, don't go for that one. You don't wanna take attention away from the bride, right? : D

I think one's definition of 'middle aged' changes as one gets older.. ha! Sean middle aged? 40.. yes. 33.. not so much.
As long as he takes care of himself…
My idea of middle aged, and when I may have reached it was seriously challenged last year after getting a cancer diagnosis. Now? I'm fighting damn hard to live all these years I expect to be around to annoy my kids!

Maybe you, as Mother, saw it coming, already knew it was going to happen or were completely stunned to hear this announcement.

Nonetheless, as her mother you have now assumed the role of mother of the bride. Now, a wedding has to be planned and chances are, your daughter is ready to go all out for her special day.

As the mother of the bride, you do have some obligations. Of course, tradition has dwindled as the years have gone on, so don’t feel that you have to stick to tradition if it simply isn’t possible. Traditionally, the parents of the bride pay most of the costs and wedding supplies related to the wedding. That’s the first matter of business for the father and mother of the bride. Determine whether or not you can afford to take on the wedding expenses. If so, perhaps you want to set some limits. If not, ask what else you can do in order to assist with the wedding plans and offer to pay for some smaller items that will be needed at the wedding. Perhaps you can pay for the DJ, the cake or decorations.

The mother of the bride must look radiant on her daughter’s special day, not more beautiful or stunning than the bride, but it is a special day for the mother of the bride too. A lot of people will be congratulating you and approaching you on the wedding day. Millions of photographs will be taken, so everyone wants to look their best.

When picking out a mother of the bride dress, make sure to ask the bride what she has in mind and if possible, take her along for fittings and to help pick out what she may possibly want for you to have and wear. Sometimes, dress shops will have designated mother of the bride dresses for some hefty prices. Keep in mind that you don’t have to purchase your dress from a dress shop. Lots of regular department stores sell formal dresses for certain times of the year. Guaranteed, those dresses will be less money than a dress in a dress store.

However, if the bride has picked out something specific in a particular store, you may want to honor her by getting it. If you truly cannot afford it, remind her that you are on a budget and see if you can find something similar. If she is still adamant, find a way to pay for it and just make the purchase. Just remember, this is her special day and it involves cooperation, love and support from the mother of the bride. Once you feel the tears start flowing at their wedding, every hassle will disappear and you’ll be the happiest mother of the bride in the world.
