I have always thought, in my opinion, that white for a wedding was bland and boring. But ironically, I am getting married in Fall 2011, and it is the color that I am loving right now. I think a cream or ivory wedding is awesome!
I have a TON of ideas, as I am also planning my cream wedding (cream, chocolate, bronze, and mauve accent) White is very stark, and virginal…. cream is more sensual and I love the way it looks when illuminated by candlelight.
If you want white. Do it. Its your day. Try a white and ice blue combo, (check out Project Wedding and The Knot to see color palates of white) or turn your white theme into a cinderella/fairy tale theme. Or the traditional winter wonderland… using ice blue lighting and candles and crystals. it would look as it had snowed in your reception hall. Very beautiful.

A lot of brides were using the cocktail/fancy dresses as bridesmaids’ dresses, and then eventually the company began designing dresses specifically for that purpose (wider color range amongst a larger selection of styles), though of course people can and do still buy them just to wear. Then eventually they moved into designing wedding dresses and are opening a freestanding J. Crew wedding store in NY.
